If you’ve visited any of President Donald Trump’s golf clubs in recent years, chances are you’ve seen him in a framed Time magazine cover. Problem is, The Washington Post pointed out, the cover is not real. The top headline, which accompanies an image of Trump with his arms crossed, reads, “Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” Dated March 1, 2009, the magazine cover was never published. Time didn’t publish anything on that date. Actress Kate Winslet donned the cover for the magazine’s March 2, 2009, issue. The Post noted that Trump didn’t appear on a Time cover in 2009. Before entering politics, Trump only graced the Time cover once, for a January 1989 issue. The cover had been framed and hung in four of Trump’s golf clubs around the world. Time asked Trump to remove the fake covers from his businesses on Tuesday after the story broke.
